12th Year Anniversary!

Happy anniversary to us! Plus happy new year 2022. I will start the new year with this entry - talking about what we did at home... which is yes, very uneventful. At this point of time, Covid is still at large, with Omicron creating more drama than the other variants. And the weather has been a bit wild, with the ex-cyclone Seth sending us strong winds and some rain.

Gloomy weather

We did plan to have an anniversary trip - which was supposed to be our yearly event but I have forgotten when was the last time we had such a trip. And we ALWAYS go to Sofra to celebrate our anniversary but with everything that's going on, we thought it will be better to just stay home and have Uber send our food. We had Indian today from Bombay Bliss.

I surprised Hasben with a Skechers GoRun, because he has been very determined to be active (which probably is his 2022 resolution this year). We all assumed that he liked it - as he wore them and ran across the house LOL!

The boys went to Jumah Prayer and dropped by Bunnings to buy me the lovely plant pictured above. That’s the only time they left the house, and I was not even invited, haha. So that's pretty much how we started our new year. Maybe Covid will no longer be a threat by the end of this year and we can go back to Malaysia soon? Hopefully!

Kimi will be 3 soon and guess what, he is also a newly-appointed big brother! This time around, Prince Court is not in the picture - being full-time students, we can only afford to attend Toowoomba Base Hospital, a government hospital so this will be a whole new experience for me, not to mention being in a whole different country! Arabic Letters - Dal, Dzal, Raa and Zai

The Toowoomba Mosque has finally started construction. As you might be aware, it was subjected to an arson attack a couple of years back. So currently, efforts have been undertaken to raise funds for rebuilding the burnt mosque, and one of the ways is through Fundraising Dinners. We have attended last year's event at Brisbane. This year, it was held at Darling Height States School and the outcome was positive, with an estimated AUD200,000 raised. Anyway, for our Madrasah class, we are now learning and trying to memorise the letters Dal, Dzal, Raa and Zai. These are the Banana Letters. Dal and Dzal are the little bananas , while Raa and Zai are the big bananas . As of yesterday, my students still did not remember them, and they even forgot the ones they learnt before... The first book from her that I read was Under the Duvet, and the second was The Other Side of The Story - both I borrowed from UTM's library. She writes about characters with real life issues and manage to make the situation light although it's actually a dark topic. At the end of the day, readers will learn about complicated issues without feeling depressed. She delivers the message and adds humor to it - just brilliant! Plus, I learned a few Irish words! Sushi for Beginners is about the lives of 3 different ladies, all facing depressions. Different characters have a different coping mechanism.
