Trip Back Home!

Image
Date : 28.2.2014-10.3.2014 It was really an impromptu decision to book a flight back to KL. JuliZac informed that there was this deal by AirAsia from Gold Coast to KL which got me browsing for plane tickets. In the end, I did not manage to see any great bargains but ended up craving to go back home. At last the decision was made because I could not get Kenny Roger's Chicken out of my mind. I know, that was kind of crazy... I could not sleep the night before the flight. We had this many close calls of nearly missing the plane, thus 2AM seems like a good idea to start moving from Toowoomba, although our flight was actually at 9AM. We stopped by Banora Point near Coolangatta to buy a Quicksmart Travel Stroller from an ad in Gumtree (Hah! Sempat lagi! ) and ended up waiting for nearly 2 hours at the departure hall. I don't care, better early than sorry. My KR Chicken is waiting for me!~ The only way to keep Kimi distracted throughout the plane ride is by giving him the iPa...

Sejadah for Kimi

Image
I used to be so ambitious to become an eco-friendly mom. During my confinement with Kimi, I ventured into this pure-hearted project of making cloth wipes. You might find it somewhere in this blog archive which I won't be linking to as my pass self won't be too proud of my present-not-so-eco-friendly self. Anyways, nearly 3 years down the road, the cloth wipes are still neatly kept inside the cupboard, clean as a whistle, without any opportunity to wipe poo/pee. I am sure if these wipes can talk, they would be saying, "Thank God!" As I evaluated the situation, I thought it would be a good idea to make a little sejadah for Kimi by 'quilting' the cloth pieces together. Very feminine colours... I know... But since this photo was taken, Kimi had never again pretended to pray on it. He does not seem too interested to copy his dad during prayers like he used to. It is all about running around the house and throwing toys all over the floor. I really h...

Weetabix Choc Chip Cookies

Image
Nobody in this house likes to eat Weetabix, but I bought it on sale. I tried encouraging Hasben to eat it with Milo or Nescafe but that didn't work. I am not a fan of throwing out food unless there was absolutely no choice. I found this easy recipe for Weetabix Cookies: http://goodfoodshared.blogspot.com.au/2012/01/weetabix-chocolate-chip-cookies.html?m=1 and it tasted great. I even left out the 50g granulated sugar to try to be healthier... Haha~ While busy shaping the dough into little balls, Kimi, who was excitedly watching Disney Cars, accidentally stepped on the plate, squashing 2 pieces of cookie doughs with his foot!!! I was shouting, "Noooooo!" but he came closer with his foot verrryyy close to the other undamaged doughs, threatening with a menacing smile to re-perform the squashing ritual! Isn't he a cheeky little monster?! I ended up re-shaping the squashed dough - so much for healthy (or even hygienic) food... Oh well... Anyway, the finished pro...

Homemade Saline Solution

For Toddlers with Eye Infection I remembered in the pass that Kimi had an eye infection and the nurse gave a saline solution to be wiped on the infected eye. This helped to clear the mucus. She also printed this from the internet so we can make it at home. Seems useful for future reference (although I could just visit the website for the recipe, but knowing me, I might not be able to find it [-_-]"). Source: www.aboutkidshealth.ca How to make normal saline solution at home  Saline solution is easy to make at home.  You will need:  o 1 clean glass bottle or jar with lid  o table salt  o pot with lid  1. Put one cup of water and 1/2 teaspoon of salt into the pot. Put the lid on.  2. Boil for 15 minutes with the lid on (set a timer).  3. Set the pan aside until cooled to a room temperature.  4. Carefully pour the salt and water (normal saline) from the pan into the jar or bottle and put the lid on.

Silence Means Trouble!

Image
Do you know when you're dealing with a toddler, noise means "all good"? Well, I was performing my Asar prayers and suddenly, on the last rakaah, I noticed that it became quiet... Too quiet! Khusyuk is no longer present, I was thinking, "Please Allah, keep my boy safe". I was really hoping he wasn't playing with the electrical socket or whatever. After giving salam , I quickly turned around to see him applying my moisturiser to his foot and a thick layer was already on his cheek!!! Thank God it wasn't something expensive or I would have flipped!

Char Kuew Tew Special!

Image
Taste: Awesome! This is the special-est dish ever! It was made by Hasben who learnt the recipe from Abg Shaf. The fact that he actually took the time to memorise the recipe and perfecting the skill was tremendously shocking! I mean, I can safely say that cooking is not his passion but I see some improvement this couple of days... Let us hope that he will be trying out other recipes... And I can hang my apron with a smile ;0)
