Cloth Liners/Wipes: Whale Design

Image
I have been oh so busy with work and mothering 3 boys that I have actually not sewed anything for months! We just got back form Malaysia last week, attending my second brother's, Afian's, wedding. I am hoping to write about that soon after choosing and editing the wedding pictures. Anyway, with my cloth wipes running low on stock, I decided to have a little browse at our local Spotlight and choose some cute patterns for a new design, this time maybe something for the boys. So I made this 'Whale' cloth liners - with the cute blue whales on the micro fleece, and a simple grey pattern on the flannel. Hope you guys like it as much as I do =D So soft and cute! The End of Hizam’s PhD Journey

Image
A Dedication to My One and Only Hasben  finally did it! It took him longer than most people but he finally accomplished his greatest academic goal - getting a PhD in structural engineering. The truth is, he never planned on pursuing this part of life as he was quite an achiever in Kerteh as a maintenance engineer. However, God had other plans for him when he married me, haha! I convinced him to take up this crazy challenge of getting out of our comfort zones, travel to another country and dedicated hours of our time in doing research work for a PhD degree. With the supervisors We started together early 2012, at USQ, Toowoomba, Australia and I graduated in 2015. After this, it seemed he hit the pause button and was progressing very slow. This made me worry constantly! But in early 2018, he finally regained his momentum and completed 4 journals in that short time period. Proud parents! It was a big moment for us when he finally received the letter confirming ...

Cunningham's Crest Lookout, Laidley, Qld

Image
A view of the township of Laidley from above. Date: 26 January 2019 Location: 50 Mountain Road, Laidley, 4341 QLD, Australia. Every time we travel from Toowoomba to Brisbane or Gold Coast using the Warrego Highway, we will definitely notice the brown signboard to Cunningham's Crest Lookout. We made plenty of plans to check it out one day - and finally, that day is... not today, but last January! (The speed of updating this blog is declining LOL) Once you exit Warrego Highway, it will take 12 minutes to reach the lookout. Therefore, expect about 45 minutes of detour - this includes exploring the place. The viewing platform is not pram/wheelchair friendly, but definitely an easy climb. Keeps the kids busy for a couple of minutes =) Nice view of the plains! A couple of picnic tables available if you prefer to have a lunch stop here.  The weather was perfect!

Lunch with the SVs!

Image
Date : 28 February 2019 Hasben’s PHd journey has come to its end. I am super relieved and of course, happy! We wanted to thank our supervisors who have supported us throughout this long challenging chapter of our lives. So, we invited them over for a Malaysian-style lunch - Nasi Ayam! I served my first ever homegrown honeydew that I freshly picked from my backyard garden. At first, I thought it was a watermelon plant. I have thrown so many leftover fruits in the garden bed that it was quite impossible to know which species had successfully established itself in there! The honeydew was absolutely sweet and I was pretty surprised, to be honest. The lunch went well and Allan said, “This is better than PapaRich.” Seriously, that made my day! =D Thank you for coming. In this picture, there are 3 academic doctors and 1 medical doctor.

Locked Out!

Image
Okay, something crazy and ironic just happened yesterday! Around 6PM, I got a call from Hasben to come pick him up from work. He is working at Afi's school as a cleaner. After finishing, he locked the school's doors and realised that he left the car key (our Toyota Echo) in the building and so he can't drive home. While explaining all this, I can hear Afi wailing in the background, scared that he had to sleep at the car park. I asked Kimi, "Shall we leave Abah and Afi there? Haha..." Kimi, "That's not nice...~" Me, "I'm just joking, let's go." In the meantime, Adi has this new habit of screaming and crying if something doesn't go his way. He can do this for hours and it drives everyone insane. So he was actually starting to cry-scream while I was preparing to leave. I placed the car keys, water bottle and my handphone on the front passenger seat of the Tarago and closed the door. "Adi, you better be quiet or you...
