Motivation Phrases

I learn some new English phrases today related to motivation. Maybe I can use it in my conversations with people I want to impress, haha!

1) Bend over backward:
- To do things you don't usually do to achieve something.
- Do everything you possibly can to make something happen.

2) A cut above:
- One notch higher / one step higher than others.
- Push our boundaries.
- Try to be better than average.

3) Open heart:
- Receive criticism with open heart.
- Take it positively.

4) Devil's advocate:
- Push someone / provoke someone in order for him/her to achieve his/her full capability.

5) Tip top:
- To obtain the most excellent and perfect results.

6) On top of the world:
- The ultimate feeling to experience when a goal is achieved.

7) The line of least resistance:
- Take the simplest and quickest way to excel.

8) Extra edge:
- The strength we have that seperates us from others.
- Something special about ourselves.

Kimi will be 3 soon and guess what, he is also a newly-appointed big brother! The first book from her that I read was Under the Duvet, and the second was The Other Side of The Story - both I borrowed from UTM's library. She writes about characters with real life issues and manage to make the situation light although it's actually a dark topic. At the end of the day, readers will learn about complicated issues without feeling depressed. She delivers the message and adds humor to it - just brilliant! Plus, I learned a few Irish words! Sushi for Beginners is about the lives of 3 different ladies, all facing depressions. Different characters have a different coping mechanism. Synopsis: Lisa, a beautiful, career oriented lady is the b*tch boss from hell. She'll do whatever it takes to be the best at what she does, even if it means having no friends and family. Melbourne Weekend Getaway! Date: 13 May 2011 It is not often you hear someone say, "I'm going to Australia just for the weekend". However, it actually happened to me, not intentionally, but accidentally... I booked my flight ticket (in August 2010 for the lowest fare possible!!) without double checking and ended up with only 2 full days to spend in Melbourne. To make the best of it, I pre-booked full day tours for both days... which left out any opportunity for Melbourne city sight-seeing - how sad! From LCCT, KLIA to Melbourne Airport, it took about 8 hours flight - which I can't sleep for most part of it!! - and the time difference is plus 2 hours from Malaysia.
