Satay Partay!

While everyone else around the world is celebrating Chinese New Year, we too had our own version of 'makan besar'. The dads had this spontaneous plan to make satay and kuah kacang despite the rumours of Cyclone Marcia hitting Toowoomba this weekend.

They stayed up late at Kimi's house preparing the ingredients for the satay, which the Malays call 'cucuk sate'.


The initial plan was to BBQ at Hodgson Vale Park but since it was drizzling, we had the get-together at Iqbal's house instead.



The food was in abundance! There were cookies, lontong, nasi impit, beef/chicken/lamb satay, MKR cheesecake, jellies, beronok or kuih sagu, fruitcake and honeydew.



Naturally, the food proportion exceeded our eating capabilities, which led to lots of leftovers, which is good because everyone had the chance for takeaways, meaning no cooking dinner tonight! (can you see how complicated this sentence is?)

Eat eat eat... 
Dinner is served. Sambung makan kat rumah pulak...

Kimi will be 3 soon and guess what, he is also a newly-appointed big brother! This time around, Prince Court is not in the picture - being full-time students, we can only afford to attend Toowoomba Base Hospital, a government hospital so this will be a whole new experience for me, not to mention being in a whole different country! The first book from her that I read was Under the Duvet, and the second was The Other Side of The Story - both I borrowed from UTM's library. She writes about characters with real life issues and manage to make the situation light although it's actually a dark topic. At the end of the day, readers will learn about complicated issues without feeling depressed. She delivers the message and adds humor to it - just brilliant! Plus, I learned a few Irish words! Melbourne Weekend Getaway! Date: 13 May 2011 It is not often you hear someone say, "I'm going to Australia just for the weekend". However, it actually happened to me, not intentionally, but accidentally... I booked my flight ticket (in August 2010 for the lowest fare possible!!) without double checking and ended up with only 2 full days to spend in Melbourne. To make the best of it, I pre-booked full day tours for both days... which left out any opportunity for Melbourne city sight-seeing - how sad! From LCCT, KLIA to Melbourne Airport, it took about 8 hours flight - which I can't sleep for most part of it!! - and the time difference is plus 2 hours from Malaysia.
