Early Stage of Pregnancy and Miscarriage

Specially for All Mommy Wannabes!

Through out this week, I have done a few researches from the internet on pregnancy and miscarriage at early stage. As a non-medical person, I have summarised the followings based on my understanding. Just to share the knowledge to all excited Mommy Wannabes!

Early Signs of Pregnancy

The most obvious sign of pregnancy is a missed period... but no woman can wait that long (2 weeks!) for a "yes" or "no" answer from the pee-pee stick (home pregnancy test). There's a few signs you can try to detect from your changing body. Click here for some. Most of the signs are very similar to period signs... so it's not really helpful... especially if you do not experience the more obvious signs, like vomitting and fatigue. As for acne and bloating... I experience that everyday! *Kah kah kah*

The most interesting sign is: The intuition - just "feeling" pregnant. This may sound unconvincing... but a few of my friends have experienced this... and they were actually right! But watching Glee Season 1, I'm sure most of us do not want to end up like Terri - having the IPS (Imaginary Pregnancy Symptom)!! Just freaking scary!

The signs are playing tricks on you..? Still confused? There's only one way to find out....

Home Pregnancy Test

Behind all pee-pee stick boxes, you'll find the instructions... the result... 1 line at C (control line) means "No"... 2 lines at both C and T (test line) means "Yes"! But there's so many questions on how the T line is suppose to look like. The most common questions are: How light is light? What does a very very very very light pink line means? My T line can be seen at proper lighting only, does that mean it is positive?

The answer: Any line that comes out within 5 to 10 minutes, however light it is, means "YES, Yippie, You're pregnent!" "Congratulations are in place!! You're not convinced? Click here!

Miscarriage In the First Trimester

It is common for miscarriages to occur in the first trimester of pregnancy. One day, happy news from the doctor saying, "You're due date is September 2011! Your baby is 5 weeks old!" The very next day, you wake up with blood all over your pants... what? period?? It does feel like period... but super heavy flow... non-stop all day with solid blood... Bye-bye baby! :-(

Many women admits at online forums that they suffer miscarriage at 5-6 weeks. It is not something that the mom did or didn't do. The reason at this stage is normally chromosomal abnormalities - which simply means that the 'baby' did not develop properly. More explanation, click here! So don't blame yourself... some say you can try again after the bleeding stops for natural miscarriages... but for D&C, you'll have to wait longer.

Good luck Mommies!
