Book: Last Chance Saloon

Author: Marian Keyes

I am so addicted to Marian Keyes' books!! I bought 2 of her books, with 50% discount on the second book at Borders... Can't wait to immerse myself on the other one. But first thing first... I visited her website and about a year ago, in January 2010, she said that she had to stop writing for a while due to some depression issue... I don't know if she is okay now... hopefully she is. Get well soon!

Back to my review on Last Chance Saloon. It is a story about the lives of three high school bestfriends who grew up together in Ireland and decided to build a career in London.

Synopsis:
Tara, who just cannot imagine herself living without a man in her life is so afraid of being single. She is willing to sacrifice her happiness as long as she has a boyfriend, even if he is the brother of the devil (I am exagerating this part).

Katherine, a neat freak and so afraid to commit herself in a serius relationship is the opposite of Tara. She has a bad history with men which causes her to repel any possible suitors. She prefers to stay alone in her perfect apartment.

Fintan, the guy with the perfect family and lucky in love. One day, he finds his life was turned upside down when he was diagnosed with a serious illness. His future was not bright and he realised that you don't have everything if you don't have your health.

This illness had made Fintan's loved ones closer and start to evaluate their own lives.

Lesson Learnt:
1) When we realised that we may not live long enough to see old age, we will tend to make drastic decision to improve our lives... to ensure there is no regret.
2) When a loved one is sick, we will do anything to make them happy, even if he/she is sooo annoying!
3) Last chance saloon - a place/situation where the future seems short and we have the last chance to do something with it.
